Overview

In 2019, Ministry of Transportation, in partnership with World Bank, conducted the National Survey on Transportation and Logistics.  The Vietnam Transport and Logistics System (VLSS) is the comprehensive pilot survey to collect data in accordance with the logistics and transport indicators for Vietnam.

The goal of the pilot survey is to better understand the movement of freight in Vietnam, with a focus on domestic interregional trade flows in tons and sales of goods and logistics costs. A secondary goal is to fill in important data gaps by collecting other logistics indicators from various sources and including them in the final database of the VLSS. The data collected will be used in the Annual Report on Transportation and Logistics 2019.

There are a total of 1200 manufacturing and wholesale enterprises of eight social-economic regions of Vietnam providing response (via both face-to-face interview and mail survey).

Furthermore, to paint a richer picture of the transport sector, two sectoral logistics study was conducted. The overall objective of the study is to assess the roles of logistics activities, especially transportation, on the supply chain of different industries. The target population for the survey is the enterprises in garment, frozen seafood production, and logistics, especially transportation, sector.
