PRE-MASTER&PHD in Econometrics K6 – Spring 2021

After a period of incubation and preparation, Center for Advanced Studies in Economics and Data Science (CASED) officially announced the opening of registration for the Pre-Masters and PhD courses in Economics in February 2020 in Hanoi.

Center for Advanced Studies in Economics and Data Science (CASED) is a non-profit educational institution founded by Professor Le Van Cuong (Paris School of Economics) and Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN) with the mission of improving the knowledge and research capacity of students and researchers in Vietnam in the fields of socio-economic, policy and development.

Student Benefits

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Consolidate students’ knowledge of economics with 4 subjects: Optimization, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics;
Contributing to improving the learning and research capacity of students;
Help increase your chances of receiving prestigious scholarships abroad.

PREREQUISITES:

Students with good or excellent academic results (3 years or more or graduated from University) in the fields of economics, applied mathematics, statistics, finance,…;
Lecturers and researchers currently working at universities and research institutes wishing to study Master and PhD program abroad;
Those who are planning to study abroad.

LANGUAGE: English

⭐️ In particular, in addition to the knowledge and research experience from the lecturers, students will receive:

– Transcripts and certificates of CASED upon completion of subjects trained according to international standards.

– Letter of recommendation signed jointly by 3 professors: Professor Le Van Cuong (Paris School of Economics), Professor Tran Nam Binh (University of New South Wales) and Professor Pham Hoang Van (University of Baylor, USA) with the following conditions: study The test takers achieve average results in 4 subjects with 13/20 points or more, no score below 10/20 points, and Math (Optimization) must score above 13/20 points.

Dr. Nguyễn Ngọc Anh

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh is the Director and Chief Economist of Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN). Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Hanoi Foreign Trade University and then a PhD in Economics from Lancaster University, UK, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh has worked here for many years, before returning to Vietnam, he held many different roles, including the Director of the Institute for Economic and Social Research, the economic advisor of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee.

Prof. Lê Văn Cường

Prof. Le Van Cuong is currently a Professor Emeritus at the Paris School of Economics, Honorary Research Director of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Professor has held many important positions such as: Deputy Scientific Director, in charge of Economics and Linguistics of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

The Pre-Master/Pre-PhD course at CASED helped me a lot in integrating into the academic environment of the graduate program at Simon Fraser University and got 3 PhD scholarships offered by 3 schools. If I had not been prepared through the CASED program, I believe that I would have faced more difficulties and would not be able to achieve the results I have now.

The teachers are very dedicated and enthusiastic with the students. Especially, Mr. Cuong, although he is in France, with the time difference, he always supports me to the maximum in applying for a scholarship. There was a time when I submitted my application very quickly, close to the new deadline, thanks to him submitting LoR through the registration system, fortunately he was still happy to answer and submit it quickly within a note (laughs).
