Survey on information needs of National Assembly deputies

Overview

With a grant of The Asia Foundation in Vietnam, DEPOCEN was selected to support the Training Center for Elected Representatives (TCER) of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly to carry out a policy research examining the Deputies’ needs for information to fulfill their role in  the law and policy making, constituencies’ representation and supervisory and monitoring of government activities. In this research, a survey was conducted to study and analyze the deputies’ needs for information and provide an evidence base for improving the ways and quality of policy analysis and information services to National Assembly Deputies, and for more informed designing of training program for NA deputies to fully exploit these opportunities.

Services provided

  • Desk research of relevant legal documents and research literature pertaining to National Assembly deputies’ requirements for policy research and related information;
  • Developing the research framework for the full study;
  • Survey design (mail survey, focus group discussion and key informant interviews)
  • Training on survey implementation for TCER officers
  • Analysis of results and report writing.
