Overview

The Vietnam Transparency Project follows the key principles that transparency is a key determinant of economic and social progress, and that transparency empowers citizens, firms, civil society, media, national assembly, and local governments to play a more constructive role in governance engagements. By measuring and tracking transparency over time, the VTP supports a constructive approach to transparency, generating practical advice on improving transparency, and strengthening advocacy for improved legislation guaranteeing access to information.

In late 2013, the World Bank, with support from UK-DFID, organized the data collection for a Study of Land Transparency for the VTP. The data also included documentary evidence, such as photographs from the site visits and screen shots of websites. Presently the World Bank is commissioning support for the preparation of province-specific reports on the results of the study, as well as support for report preparation and downstream analysis.

Services provided

Task 1.Preparation of Province-Level Reports on Land Transparency

Introduction to the VTP and summary of the methodology.
Overall assessment of the province along four dimensions: (i) online checks, (ii) spot checks at the province level, (iii) spot checks at the district and commune levels within that province, and (iv) trends since 2010. These can be in the form of a set of user friendly bar charts.
