Overview
The objective of this study is two fold: first, to better understand the patterns, causes, and consequences of international migration, and second, to help a better formulation of immigration policy in a perspective to increase the gain from trade and investment liberalization.
Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:
- Review relevant policies, documents and studies;
- Design the survey (sampling strategy, data collection tool);
- Revise the questionnaire and develop interview manual guide;
- Pre-test the questionnaire;
- Train enumerators and supervisors;
- Implement qualitative survey with officials from local governments, officials from markets’ management board, and representatives of the organizations in each commune.
- Data entry, data analysis and report writing.
Within the scope of this assignment, two surveys were carried out, including one enterprise survey with the participation of 100 firms using foreign employees and a household survey of 1000 households in the areas with high migration rate of two provinces of Thai Binh and Nghe An. The enterprise survey targeted at leaders and/or human resources managers via face-to-face modes. The surveyed communes were selected using Probability proportionate to size (PPM) sampling method, using matching criteria of poverty rate, population, geographic conditions (coastal areas, remote areas, among others). Tablet-based technology was applied for data collection.
