Survey of Master Training Programs for Vietnam Japan University (VJU)

Overview
Vietnam Japan University (VJU) is established as a member of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) following the model of an excellent research-based university. As its basic principles, Vietnam Japan University aims to (1) provide high-quality education in equality with those leading Japanese universities, (2) provide education/trainings based on Japanese technologies and experience, (3) establish the university in cooperating with universities of both countries, (4) respect for initiatives of individual universities, and (5) equip students/learners language skills and competency.
While information on specific aspects of these programs, including curriculum and the students’ expectations from them, is not yet available, conducting a survey to gauge the demand of potential students for the above mentioned master programs is urgently needed to provide more concrete understanding and evidence-based materials for development of the selected programs in the coming years. The survey was conducted in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Da Nang with the participation of over nearly 3800 people: 12 group discussions (with 105 participants from universities, government agencies, research institutes and enterprises), face-to-face survey of around 3658 relevant stakeholders (experts, employers, master students and alumni, and potential learners).
Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:
- Guide for focus group discussion and student survey questionnaires for six areas: Area Studies, Public Policy, Business Administration, Environmental Technology, Nano-technology, and Infrastructure Engineering;
- A schedule and plan interviews;
- An evaluation report which details: The fitness of each program for Vietnamese sustainable socio-economic development strategy in general and for the development strategy of VNU; The market demand of each program in both Vietnamese and Japanese organizations from employers’ perspective; The market demand of each program from prospective students’ perspective, The requirements of Japanese/international/Vietnamese organizations /companies for graduate students; The attractiveness of the programs to sponsors from Japanese, Vietnamese and international organizations and companies; The expected outcome for; Prospective students for annual enrolment with language skills; Prospective students’ affordability for different levels of tuitions; Recommendations for VJU’s program positioning in Vietnam; Perspective Vietnamese lecturers who are experts in the fields of training.
