Conducting Research and Evidence Base Planning, Preparation Work for Viet Nam Healthy Nutrition Program in School Settings

Overview

While the Vietnamese government has put certain efforts to strengthening the right to health for Vietnamese people, with a focus on school aged children, through long-term health and nutrition development strategies, the implementation of those strategies has been currently facing with many limitations due to the lack of detailed regulatory instruments. The aim of this project, therefore, is twofold. The first objective is to understand the national laws, regulations, and litigation related to the regulation of trans fatty acids in Viet Nam. In order to achieve this objective, we will conduct a landscape analysis including three components of legal analysis, policy mapping and stakeholder analysis. The landscape analysis will be conduct in accordance with guidance of GHAI. The second objective is to explore the gap between school-based nutrition regulations and their current implementation, then propose potential recommendations for proper interventions of healthy school environment that is based on WHO best-practices to pace effective policies.

Services provided

– Conduct landscape analysis to support the adoption of a best practices trans fatty acid (TFA) regulation in Viet Nam;

– Conduct a landscape analysis (legal analysis, policy mapping, and stakeholder analysis) of food environment in schools;

– Conduct a school-based nutrition assessment to observe and evaluate the food environment in the schools;

– Prepare materials and strategy to increase relevant stakeholders’ knowledge on the TFA landscape, school-based nutrition and policy recommendations in Viet Nam.

– Bi-weekly reports through fieldwork phase;

– Data Files and Data quality report submission.
