This paper examines the export performance of Vietnam based on US imports.. The empirical
analysis of the paper is based on US imports from Vietnam at the two? and ten?digit levels for
the 1994?2011 period. The paper examines the composition of exportsfrom Vietnam, the
degree of concentration of exports, and the extent of export similarity with selected
comparator countries. Based on the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP), the paper also
explores the welfare effects of further trade liberalizations on Vietnam and other countries.
