DEPOCEN | VACANCY for Research Intern

About DEPOCEN

Established in 2005, the Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN) has gained recognition in the development and policy research community for its diverse research areas, including macroeconomic policies, education economics and public health.

DEPOCEN publishes extensively in international journals and maintains a working paper series. It offers services such as statistical surveys, monitoring and evaluation, and impact evaluation on topics like governance, poverty reduction, and gender equality. DEPOCEN’s outputs are utilized by various organizations including the World Bank and the United Nations. Since 2008, it has provided training on various topics to international organizations, universities, and government agencies in Vietnam. In 2019, the Center for Advanced Studies and Research in Economics and Data Science (CASED) was established to enhance research capacity in economics and development. DEPOCEN is a founding member of several organizations including the Vietnam Economist Annual Meeting and the Vietnam Economics Research Network. To further fortify our research initiatives, DEPOCEN is actively seeking to onboard 03 Research Interns. The specific requirements for this position are detailed below:

 

RESEARCH INTERN

(Code: INTERN.02.RESEARCH)

 

WORK LOCATION: DEPOCEN Office, No.1B Ly Thuong Kiet Lane, Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

– Actively engage in the formulation of research reports, analyses and contribute to policy advisory activities, fostering a dynamic and collaborative research environment;

– Contribute expertise to the editing process of various outputs from research programs/projects, including books, articles, and reports, ensuring a high standard of quality and coherence;

– Provide valuable assistance in the collection, organization, and processing of research documents and data, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail;

– Offer proficient translation services for research materials, facilitating effective communication and understanding across diverse language contexts;

– Provide integral support to DEPOCEN’s overall activities, including administrative tasks, communication initiatives, and event organization, carrying out responsibilities as assigned by DEPOCEN;

– Undertake additional tasks as directed by DEPOCEN leaders, showcasing adaptability and commitment to contributing to the center’s objectives.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

– Currently enrolled as a second-year student or higher at universities, preferably pursuing majors in economics, international relations, law, public policy, statistics, sociology, social work, youth work, gender and development, psychology or public health and other social sciences;

– Demonstrated passion for and a proven capability to delve into policy issues, showcasing a long-term commitment and a scholarly approach to the field of socio-economic research;

– Proficient in English, with the ability to comprehend and translate international research documents effectively;

– Prior research experience is advantageous, and special consideration will be given to candidates with scientific research awards or publications in domestic and international journals and conferences;

– Proficient in basic computer skills;

– Ability to utilize statistical software such as Stata or R is a bonus;

– Possesses honesty, attention to detail, responsibility, and a proactive work attitude.

– Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate and organize work effectively, providing an added advantage;

– Exhibits a basic understanding and adaptability to cultural nuances in an international environment.

INTERNSHIP DURATION:

– The internship spans 6 months, commencing immediately upon hiring.

– Interns can option for either full-time or part-time engagement. Successful candidates are required to coordinate their work schedule with the management team.
