Vacancy for RESEARCHERS/Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN)

Established in 2005 as an independent research organization, DEPOCEN has gained a reputation for high-quality and policy-relevant research in a wide range of socio-economic issues within the development and research community in Viet Nam. We develop close working relationship with many international organizations, governmental agencies, universities and private sectors. We are one of top ten economics research organizations ranked by REPEC, the co-founder and main organizer of the Viet Nam Economist Annual Meeting (VEAM) since 2008, the most prestigious conference in economics held by the economist community in Viet Nam; the founder the Center for Advanced Studies in Economics and Data Science (CASED); a founding member of the Vietnam Association of International Economists, as well as an active member of the EGAP Network. DEPOCEN is currently seeking applicants for researcher(s) as below:

Location: Hanoi

Type: Full-time

1. Senior Researcher

Job description

  • To develop research ideas, concept notes, research proposals and design for socio-economic researches and consultancy projects;
  • To manage, coordinate and participate in the implementation of the research and consultancy projects, from designing study protocols, collecting data to analyzing data, producing reports and disseminating results;
  • To collaborate with other team members and liaise with relevant stakeholders, including clients, partners and collaborators to assure the projects are completed with highest quality, and within planned timeframe;
  • To produce research reports and publications;
  • To manage and expand the network of experts;
  • Other tasks assigned where necessary.

Qualifications

  • At least holding a Master Degree in Economics and/or related fields. PhD in Economics and/or other related fields is an advantage. Foreign degrees are preferred.
  • Having experience in implementing socio-economic research projects. Having publications in reputed international scientific journal is advantage.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical skills and leadership;
  • Proficiency in professional statistical software and programming (e.g. R, STATA, MATLAB, etc.);
  • Excellent command in English and Vietnamese;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently;
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork.

 

2. Research Assistant/Junior Researcher

Job description:

  • To assist researchers in developing proposals and designing socio-economic researches and consultancy projects;
  • To implement and assist senior researchers in implementing researches and consultancy projects, including data collection, data analysis, report preparation and dissemination;
  • To organize research seminars, workshops and other relevant events;
  • To collaborate with other team members and assist researchers in liaising with relevant project stakeholders, including clients, partners and collaborators;
  • Other tasks assigned where necessary.

Qualifications

  • Having Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Economics, Health Economics, Statistics, Public Policy and other related fields.
  • Proficiency in professional statistical software and programming (e.g. R, STATA, MATLAB, etc.);
  • Excellent command in English and Vietnamese;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently;
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork.
