Overview

The project aims at increasing awareness on child rights with the focus on child protection and right to education to wide range of targets including children, parents, local government and businesses in the coffee production areas in central of Vietnam. The intervention provides awareness raising activities and capacity building trainings to relevant stakeholders so that they are able to either practice their fundamental rights and create a safe working environment that considers the healthy development of children in the region. The children will be given a chance to voice out and present their concerns and needs through child-led groups, where children are empowered to make their own decisions on the issues related to them. The target children are also provided with supports on informal education classes in order to reduce the drop-out rate. In addition to strengthening awareness and action plans of local businesses regarding child rights, child protection is another key aspect of the project. The project will closely work with an experienced partner, to carry out the activities relating to revision of local business’s internal policies and capacity building for their staff. A quick survey will map out relevant local businesses that later the project could engage them into the activities.

The project operates in 06 communes at 3 districts of Cu M’ga, Krong Nang and Ea H’leo, Buon Ho town and Buon Me Thuot city in Yen Bai province, from April 2020 to March 2023

Estimated beneficiaries: About 1,500 children, especially ethnic minority children from 6 – 18 years old, nearly 500 local communities (parents, teachers, health workers) and relevant stakeholders (business staff, local government, and CSOs) in 6 selected communes in Dak Lak province
