Awareness survey for Agent Orange/dioxin project (Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contaminated Hotspots in Viet Nam)

Overview
In June 2010, the project “Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contaminated Hotspots in Viet Nam” was launched by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and UNDP with the objective “to minimise the disruption of ecosystems and health risks for people from environmental releases of TCDD (Tetra-chlorodibenzo-dioxin, as known as dioxin) contaminated hotspots”.
The project term will be completed in 2014 and the final evaluation was conducted to assess the project achievement against approved logical framework. The result of this survey provided the comparison to the baseline level and current level of awareness after communications interventions.
The assignment aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Project’s communication activities in health awareness of people. The survey also studied the practice of using health examination services of people in the project areas. To perform this task, both quantitative and qualitative methods were applied to collect data for the evaluation.
Services provided
- Literature review of project documents;
- Designing research tools and evaluation indicators;
- Conducting quantitative and qualitative evaluation on health awareness of people and relevant communication activities, including those in behavior change communication on sanitation;
- Processing data with STATA and NVIVO software;
- Report production.
