The purpose of this conference is to discuss on the implications of the post-crisis environment for fiscal policy issues in Asia.

At the conference, the participants, guided by the findings of the various research papers and comments raised, discuss implications for Asia's policy responses to the global crisis and identify possible policy measures.

At this conference, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh presented “Fiscal Policy Issues for Viet Nam after the Current Crisis”. This paper is a fiscal study of policy issues in Vietnam, covering such issues as stimulus measures to be implemented after the crisis, timing issues and criteria for achieving medium-term debt stability and possible exchange rate risks.

Research papers on issues related to foreign direct investment in Vietnam by researchers at DEPOCEN have recently been published as chapters in a book (January 2010), titled "Foreign direct investment in Vietnam – determinations and impacts”. The book is published by the National Political Publishing House in cooperation with the Centre for Analysis and Forecasting (an institute at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences)
