The DEPOCEN Training Center is presenting a series of short courses in research and statistical methods and software. These courses cover a wide range of topics, and include Questionnaire Design, Survey Methods, Data Mining and Analysis, Risk Quantification, and Monte Carlo Simulation.
Regular Classes: Introduction to Research Methods
These courses are designed for those considering or beginning to undertake research who would like an insight into some of the basic methods available to them. These courses are structured to introduce both quantitative and qualitative approaches to research and to illustrate techniques which can be used to achieve research objectives.
The aim of the courses is to demonstrate the important role of research, to explore the diverse techniques available to the researcher
Participating in theses courses participants will:
- have an overview of the types of research techniques associated with quantitative, qualitative and participatory research;
- have had the opportunity to consider which methods are most applicable to research needs;
- be able to design and conduct his/her own research knowing the positive and negative aspects of the research methods discussed;
These courses will be beneficial for researchers and students from universities, research institutes, and workers in local and international NGOs as well as practitioners working in the industry.
Computing Facilities
Courses will be held in the Computing Lab of the Training Center at 216 Tran Quang Khai street, Hanoi. Our training lab is equipped with modern Windows machines, necessary software and materials and in a comfortable environment for learning.

Special Courses
From time to time, DEPOCEN organizes special courses to meet the demand from both the industry researchers and academic researchers. These courses cover a wide range of advanced topics such as econometric modeling, forecasting, input-output (IO) table analysis, computable general equilibrium (CGE), economic growth theory, Monte Carlo simulation, Bayesian inferences, risk analysis and management, valuation, intellectual property valuation, market research, survey design, poverty analysis, and program monitoring and evaluation.
